Tamara Kovziridze

Dr. Kovziridze has been a partner and senior director at Reformatics since 2012. Before joining the firm, she held various high-level positions in the Georgian government in 2004-2012 such as Deputy Minister of Economy and Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Among other roles, she was the Chief Negotiator during the talks which culminated in the Georgian-Turkish free-trade agreement in 2007, Chief Negotiator and co-ordinator of Georgian-EU negotiations on the country’s Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) with the EU in 2009-2012, and Georgia’s Chief Negotiator during the 2005-2011 talks regarding Russia’s accession to the WTO.

In her current capacity as a partner at Reformatics, Dr. Kovziridze is working with a number of governments in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, advising them on regulatory reform (including competitiveness and business climate reform), economic reform agendas, trade and investment climate.

Dr. Kovziridze holds an MA in Political Science, Economics and English Philology from the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium). She has a number of international publications to her name and 10 years of academic and teaching experience. An affiliated scholar with the Free University of Brussels, Dr. Kovziridze is fluent in English, German, French and Russian.
